"Go for the Goal"

Kris had it stuck in his head that he would run with me last weekend... I needed to do 12 miles.
This probably would have been fine if he had been training with me all along... OR even if he had appropriate running shoes... but he hadn't and he didn't. The shoes he ran in were purchased in 1999... And as you can imagine, they were WORN OUT!
But Kris HAD to do the 12 miles anyway... no matter what he had to run in. Just because he said he would run 12 miles.

I know... I don't understand it.

At about 0.3 miles Kris knew it would be a tough go - the blisters had already started to form...
At about mile 8 Kris had run out of steam (only 4 more miles to go!) AND he was "running on needles"
When we finally stopped running we noticed the blood leaking through his shoes....

It's Thursday and Kris is still extremely sore.... he is still limping.
But if you ask him - I'm sure he'd say he'd do it again.
"I said I would run 12 miles, and I ran 12 miles" - Kris

hey girl! so...if you're gonna do a 25K you might as well just keep on training and do a marathon! i've been thinking about running one for years. i've only done a half. i just haven't worked up the motivation to train for a full! good job though! you rock! glad you are doing well!

Unbelievable! Sounds like something Rob would do :) That is extremely gross though! I've run for a long time (I just started calculating, but shouldn't admit how long... makes me sound old and I should really be a better runner if it's been this long! ;) ), and I've NEVER encountered something like that! None the less, I can't wait to her how the races goes for you!

that picture totally grosses me out... but of course, when you say "don't look" or "warning" I have to look. why are boys so flippin' stubborn? I'm proud of you for running though Lea, can't wait to hear how the race goes!

Way to go Kris - way to sacrifice your body for your committment to run! That must have been really painful - very respectable - but seriously crazy : ) So is running going to be a new hobby of yours now? Drew and I are running the 5/3 riverbank...we are not at the top of our game right now(Well below Leanne) so we aredoing the 5k... Drew did the 25k last year.. and I did nothing(still recovering from the baby) Anyway Kris you should run it with us - we arent as crazy as your wife (you wont bleed for this one : )
